27 Minutes to Finish This Post

I know, I know. I should have updated a long, long time ago. I've been busy. Data Management is not a course that you should procrastinate with. I should have known that. I hate how graphs take so long to make and in the end, it looks like it took no effort at all.

So anyway, the GTA has had it's first decent amount of snow fall. The kid's are like "yay" and the adults are like "oh no". Winter is a time of many emotions. It's the time that you evaluate all of your relationships with friends and family and buy them presents proportionate to how you feel about them. It's the time to bake cookies and eat Lindor chocolates. It's the time to break out those ugly poofy jackets to protect you from -40 degree weather.

The weather and Data are the reasons that I missed out on yesterday's free outdoor show that included Two Hours Traffic and Sloan to kick of the football season. Oh poo. (And am I the only one that thinks it's a bad season to be starting football games? I know they play indoors, but... I dunno. I suppose I just don't really get sports.) I came to a sudden realization when I was doing my assignment. I was accounting. I'm part joking, part serious when I say this: Becoming an accountant is one of my greatest fears in life. I don't mean anything offensive to all you number crunchers, but I just lack the mental capacity to calculate for long periods of time.

What's a girl to do?

So ImpressionableYouth and I have been ignoring our blog duties in the last little bit. Okay, so I'm just making up excuses, but life gets in the way. It's been busy at my jobs, illness in the family and I'm finally catching up to my assignments in class (yes!). I've cut out tv, web-surfing and a couple hours of sleep in order to get everything done. I sound like an old-fogey, but I need every bit of sleep I can get. It was just a terrible day at work and with all the factors combined, I wanted to punch some people out.

The Actor and the Stage

Things are getting more dramatic. In a literal sense.

My drama class is putting on a play for young audiences. I hold a personal grudge against this script. It's a lot less intellectually compelling than what we did last year, Office Hours by Norm Foster. Damn, that Norm knows how to write a script. He raised my expectations for this year. But anyway! The thing I'm upset about most is I actually agreed to be the narrator. I don't mind the number of lines, really. But I have to watch everyone else bitch at each other in a PG-13 manner as the script directs, while I stand to the side and act proper. My peer-student-director held a meeting with the actors to discuss how we develop our characters.
She goes: So, tell me how you see your character.
I go: Um. I see myself-
She goes: Tell me in first person.
I go: Um. IIII see MYYYSEELFFF as...
While I'm answering this I'm thinking to myself "I'M THE EFFING NARRATOR. I DON'T HAVE CHARACTER". And on top of that, our teacher's watching over us like a vulture. It's like he's in super PMS mode.

But there's some good news. The Improv Club has finally been approved by out student council and will be hosting it's first meeting this wednesday. Yay! What will we do? I dunno. We'll just improvise.

Haha, get it?

Last but certainly not least, I wish to end off this post with a more solemn note.

I've been hearing that some people think this is "Foo Fighter Filler". Am I the only one that actually realy likes this song?

Back to Reality

So it's been almost a week since I've been back from holiday in Vietnam and I'm taking my time settling into the reality of work, class and other related real life events. The lifestyle is so different. People are poorer and the pace is slower, but everyone is so relaxed all the time. People sit around and soak in the sun and watch the world go by all day. Workers would walk out and sit around for a while, work, chat, sit around for a bit, play with the neighbourhood kids, sit around for a bit and so on. I know the grass is greener on the other side and all that, but it must be nice sometimes. The only time they aren't relaxed is when they are waiting in line or driving. They just HAVE to be two steps ahead. Old people literally push you out of the way so they can line up before you. It's kind of funny how everyone rushes around to slack off once they get to where they are going. I'm going to attempt to relax more in the new year.

But not just yet. I'm quite upset at the Markham Library, who has sent me a bill for the Bill Bryson book "In A Sunburned Country",which I returned sometime in August or September. I called them back to tell them I've returned it and since they can't find it, they're charging me for it. But I'm not paying it. Screw that. I'll just have to live with being banned from the library permanently. Which sucks, because there are so many books I wanna read!
