Congratulations Brandon Flowers!

Everyone, let's give a round of applause to Brandon Flowers for getting rid of his mustache!

Here's a clipping from last month's NME Magazine

Aww, remember that charming young lad? He's back (without the stache) and it makes me happy. I didn't remember him being such a good looking chap. He's back, along with the Killers, with a few new tracks that we'll probably be seeing more of, closer to the completion of a new album. The next one will be entitled Day and Age and they've already played "Neon Tiger" and "Spaceman" live.

Sounds good.

Looks good.

I'm so glad something made you Change Your Mind (Killers) (mp3) (buy) about that mustache, Brandon.

Now you, Rivers.

Pork and Beans

Weezer is back folks! And Rivers Cuomo is rocking a pornstache! Unfortunately it is true.

Their new CD, "The Red Album", will be released June 3rd and the cover reminds me of a try-out for an updated version of The Village People.

Regardless of their incongruent attire, the band's first single is called "Pork and Beans". I like it. It's a catchy song with a cute video of YouTube celebrities. Check it out, you'll likely recognize some of them from your favorite videos!

Is the sum greater than the whole or vice versa?

You know who I love? Sloan. How could you not love Sloan? If you are a kid growing up in Canada listening to rock music, you must have sang along to one of their crazily catchy songs one time or another. And their live shows are so much fun. Nobody does a better scissor kick that Chris Murphy (except perhaps Howlin' Pelle of the Hives). In any case... I heart Sloan.

And you know who else I love and admire? River Cuomos of Weezer fame. Come on, the guy probably has his PhD from Harvard by now and he was in one of the definitive bands of the 90's. He's an academic from one of the best ivy league school and he's a rock star! It's like the best of both worlds.

And they joined forces to record the track "Little Diane", a cover a Dion (not Celine) song for River's solo record "Alone, the Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomos".
